One of the things I love most about being a photographer is getting to document families wherever their stories take them. Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Half Moon Bay for a family session that was especially meaningful.
This sweet family includes a toddler, a baby, and two parents who are also good friends. Even more special, we were photographing them at the very beach where they got engaged years ago!
From the moment we arrived, it was clear this location held a lot of memories. The sound of the waves, the coastal breeze, and the beautiful shoreline created the perfect backdrop for a session centered around connection and family. Watching these two revisit such an important place in their story, this time with two little ones by their side, was incredibly heartwarming.
Their toddler brought so much energy and joy to the session. Whether running along the sand, exploring the shoreline, or snuggling up with mom and dad, every moment felt genuine and full of personality. Meanwhile, their baby was taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean with wide-eyed curiosity, creating some of the sweetest candid moments of the day.
My favorite images weren't the perfectly posed ones. They were the in-between moments: little hands reaching for mom, dad carrying tired legs after a long walk on the beach, siblings laughing together, and the quiet smiles shared between two parents reflecting on how much life has changed since that engagement day.
There's something incredibly special about returning to a place that marks the beginning of a family's story. What was once the setting for a proposal is now the backdrop for a family, filled with laughter, adventure, and love.
As a photographer serving Yuba City, Plumas Lake, and the surrounding areas, I love helping families preserve these fleeting seasons of life. Whether we're exploring local fields, chasing golden light, or traveling to a location that holds special meaning, my goal is always the same: to capture authentic moments that tell your family's story.
